Finding the Wedding Dress: Straps, Silk, and Surprises

When I first started dress shopping I envisioned wearing straps, lace and something very antique looking so as to fit with the ceremony venue, the Empire Mine in Grass Valley, CA. We were to be wed at a gold mine afterall! On my first day of wedding dress shopping, lace dress after strappy lace wedding dress I knew it just wasn’t my style. The last dress I tried on was this couture Vwidon ivory, silk magnolia dress at Jin Wang in San Francisco. I immediately fell in love. Tears and everything. It was so far from what I had imagined but the second I put it on I knew it would be the one.

Making Sure It Is the Right Wedding Dress

Unfortunately I loved dress shopping so much I continued to look (which drove my mom and sister up the wall!) only to come back to this wedding dress a few months later. The dress fit like a glove. I am still shocked I was able to dance as much as I did on my wedding night – those buttons though! As glamourous as they are, no one tells you sitting on buttons is a real pain in the ___! Literally. These pictures are from my wedding day September 26th, 2014 marrying Austin of Nevada City, CA.
