A Wedding Dress Story

On October 6, 2012, I visited TLC Bridal Boutique with my mom in my Maryland hometown. I went in thinking this would be one of many dress shopping appointments, but boy was I wrong! I tried on a number of dresses that day and fell in love with one in particular, but I wanted to shop some more before making a final decision. I went to two stores (one discounter, one boutique) back in North Carolina with my friend Lauren, who was more than gracious in helping me with the yards and yards of tulle and lace! That day, I found myself comparing everything I tried on to that dress, so I knew it was the one!
The dress I chose was from the Casablanca Bridal Spring 2012 line. With delicately draped organza, a ruched bodice, and a sweetheart neckline, the pick-ups on the skirt created the illusion of a rose motif. It was the last dress I expected I would fall in love with. I had gone in thinking I wanted a vintage-style lace dress, but it turns out that style looks horrible on me! When I tried on the Casablanca dress, everything changed. We added a rum pink appliqué belt by Gisele Bridal, which just completed the gown. It was that little bit of vintage and lace that I had wanted.
The dress shopping experience was a special time I got to spend with my mom. Since we planned a bit of a destination wedding, and my mom lives in another state, I didn’t get to do a lot of wedding planning with her. Dress shopping was a special day for us, where we got to spend time together and really treasure the moment. It was just the beginning of a very special season in my life.

Dorothy married David N. on October 20, 2013 in Pinehurst, NC in the Pergola Garden at the Village Arboretum. The reception was held at The Fair Barn.
